Dr. Fate is the mystical protector of magic on the earth for the DC Universe. Unlike others sorcerer's, Dr. Fate is an Amalgam between an ancient sorcerer known as Nabu, a Lord of Order, and a destined human host. For centuries though, there was no protector until an archeologist by the name of Kent Nelson found the helmet on a dig in Mesopotamia. From there over the next few decades it was passed to various individuals, all under the control of Nabu. For decades the host would be trained by Nabu in the mystic arts, as they fought countless of magical threats.
After a final showdown between the Lords of Order and the Lords of Chaos, Nabu was thought to have been destroyed. The helmet though was discovered once again, and despite Nabu's absence.... the Helm of Nabu was still a potent artifact. Kent V. Nelson, the descendant of the archeologist who unearthed the helmet originally came into the possession of the Helm. Unlike his his previous predecessors, he is not dominated by the spirit of Nabu. He is currently seeking training from other mystics.
